Getting Started
Going On Duty
Before LEO, SAFR or Dispatch will let you in, you sign on as a unit. That is what puts you on the map, in the fleet list, on the radio and in reach of dispatch. The civilian portal needs none of this — it opens straight away.
Signing on
Open LEO, SAFR or Dispatch from the portal and the sign-on screen appears. It asks slightly different things per department, because the three build their callsigns differently.
LEO
- Select Agency / Korps — the police agency you are working for. The list is set up by your community.
- Special Assignment — optional. K9, air support, a detective unit, and so on. Leave it on None — regular unit if you are on normal patrol.
- Your Number — your personal number, e.g.
475. - Your Name — optional, e.g.
John S.Purely so colleagues know who is behind the callsign. - Check the CALLSIGN line at the bottom, then GO ON DUTY.
Your callsign is built for you: agency plus your number gives LSPD 475. Pick a
special assignment and it changes — the assignment supplies the prefix and you
fill in a Callsign Number, which gives something like KILO 1.
SAFR
- Division — optional. Leave it on All of SAFR — no division if your community does not split fire and medical.
- Special Assignment — optional, as above.
- Callsign — you type this one yourself, e.g.
ENGINE 1. - Your Number and Your Name — your personal number, and optionally your name.
- GO ON DUTY.
In Station Mode you pick a station first, then join a crew or deploy an apparatus. You don't type a callsign: aboard, the apparatus is your callsign. NO STATION still gives the form above. See Station Mode.
Dispatch
Department is fixed to DISPATCH. Fill in a Dispatch Number / Name — the
DISPATCH prefix is already there, so 110 gives DISPATCH 110 — plus your
name if you want, and GO ON DUTY.
Check the fleet before you pick
Next to the LEO and SAFR sign-on form is the Active fleet panel: every unit currently on duty, grouped by department and agency, with the special units counted separately at the top.
Use it before you claim a special assignment. If it already shows K9 ×3 you
probably do not need to be the fourth, and the panel updates live while you are
looking at it.
One unit at a time
You can only be signed on as one unit. Try to sign on somewhere else and you get Already On Duty instead of the form, showing which callsign is holding you back.
- Resume
<callsign>— go to where you are already working. - Go off duty as
<callsign>— release that unit so you can sign on here.
This works across communities too. If the unit is in another community the notice says so, and signing off here releases it there as well.
While you are on duty
Signing on unlocks the rest of the department: the sidebar, the map, the database, the radio. Until then those pages are closed — open one by its URL while off duty and you land back on the sign-on screen.
Your 10-code status lives at the bottom of the sidebar. See Sidebar & Omni-Search.
Going off duty
GO OFF-DUTY sits at the bottom of the sidebar. It asks for a confirmation — click the tick to go through with it, the cross to stay on — and then returns you to the portal.
You can also end up off duty without pressing it: a supervisor or dispatcher can sign your unit off, and leaving the game releases an in-game unit. In both cases the CAD drops you back on the portal rather than leaving you on a screen that no longer applies.
Signing out of the CAD is not the same as going off duty. Go off duty first, or your unit stays in the fleet list.
