SAFR
Station Mode
In Station Mode you don't type a callsign. You sign on at a station, and the truck you ride is your callsign. Dispatch calls out the truck, not you, and whoever is free on its crew goes.
Your community turns Station Mode on; see Stations & Apparatus. Without it, SAFR signs on as described in Going On Duty (Units).
The words
| Word | Means |
|---|---|
| Station | A place in the game with a number: Station 3 |
| Apparatus | A vehicle someone took out at a station: ENGINE 3, MEDIC 3. A second one of the same type is MEDIC 3-1 |
| Deploy | Take an apparatus out. It exists from then on, until it is taken out of service |
| Crew | The people who go when that apparatus is called out. Its seats are the limit |
| In quarters | At the station, not aboard anything. Your callsign is then STATION 3 - 475: the station and your own number |
| Aboard | On an apparatus. Your callsign is then the apparatus |
| Toned out | Dispatch called out an apparatus you are on the crew of |
Signing on
- Pick your station. Continue at Station 3 takes you back to where you were last shift. NO STATION gives the normal sign-on form, for chiefs, air units and anyone who keeps their own callsign.
- Pick your apparatus. There is one column per division, with what is
already in service at this station:
- Join puts you on the crew of an apparatus in quarters.
- Deploy a … apparatus takes a new one out. Search the list by type, vehicle, model name or seats; each vehicle shows the callsign it becomes. You can pick several at once, one per type.
- Fill in Your number (e.g.
475) and, if you like, Your name. - GO ON DUTY.
You start in quarters on your community's unavailable status, so you have time to get changed. Set yourself available in the sidebar when you are ready: until then, nobody can call your crews out with you.
One crew per type. You can be on the crew of an engine and a medic, but not on two medics. Joining a second one of the same type moves you, and the screen says so.
Seats are the limit, not a minimum. One person can crew a truck. When every seat is taken, the button reads Full: deploy another one.
The Station page
Station, directly under Active Call in the sidebar, is where you change all of this during your shift. Every button takes effect right away.
The top row is You: where you are, your status, and the crews you are on.
| Button | Does |
|---|---|
| Join / On crew | Get on or off a crew. Leave as the last one on an apparatus in quarters, and it is taken out of service |
| Join crew | On an apparatus out on the road: you get on its crew, and get in when it is back in quarters or in-game |
| Board | Get aboard now. The apparatus goes on the road, in service |
| Change vehicle | Swap to another vehicle of the same type, in quarters. A vehicle the crew won't fit in can't be picked |
| Take out of service | Undeploy an apparatus in quarters. Its crew list goes with it |
| Back in quarters | Get off the apparatus you are aboard |
| Change station | Move to another station. Your crews at this one are left |
| EMT-trained | A box under the crew, on an apparatus from a division that isn't EMT-trained by default. Tick it and dispatch sees EMT on it: it can be sent to medical calls. Only its crew sees the box; a new deploy starts unticked |
Each card shows the seats, who is on the crew, and whether it can be called out: someone on its crew must be in quarters on an available or busy status. The chip at the bottom right is its supplies: click it to open them.
Getting toned out
When dispatch calls out an apparatus you are on the crew of, you get:
- a notification Toned out: MEDIC 3 with the call, and a BOARD MEDIC 3 button;
- the same call on Active Call, with the full details, BOARD and Open call.
You are toned out when you are on its crew, in quarters, not on a call, and on an available or busy status. On an unavailable status you get nothing.
There are two ways to board:
- BOARD on the tablet puts you aboard at once and sets your GPS to the call.
- Get in and drive away. The game sees the truck leave the station and puts everyone in it aboard, with the route to the call.
Spoken alerts: if your community uses them, the station speakers announce the call in-game when dispatch presses Announce.
Three minutes. If nobody boards in time, dispatch is told No crew for MEDIC 3 and the call goes back to them, still open.
Driving out without a call
You don't need the tablet to take a truck out. Get in a vehicle your admin set up and drive it out of the station: the game puts everyone in it aboard, in service. If nothing of that type was deployed, one is deployed for you. If the vehicle is set up for more than one type and your crews don't settle it, a notification asks Which apparatus did you take out?
Driving your own car out of the station does nothing: only vehicles your admin registered count.
On the road
Aboard, the apparatus has one status for everyone. Change it in the sidebar as usual; the crew follows.
After a call you are Returning, not available. Clear the call, or set yourself available, and the apparatus switches to Returning. You get the route back to the station in-game. Dispatch can still send you to another call on the way.
Back at your station the game sees the truck stop inside the station area. Everyone aboard goes back to quarters on an available status, and the apparatus stays deployed with its crew. That works without a call too: park at your own station for a few seconds after driving around.
Transporting a patient
Set the Transporting status, or press ROUTE on a hospital under Supplies & Hospitals.
- Setting the status asks Which hospital are you transporting to?
- ROUTE sets the GPS route for your whole crew. A hospital on divert can't be picked. Not now closes the window.
- When you reach the hospital the apparatus switches to Returning: off the call, with the route back to the station.
If dispatch sets you to Transporting, the dispatcher picks the hospital and you get the route.
Supplies on your apparatus
In Station Mode, Supplies & Hospitals shows what each apparatus carries instead of the community depot. Yours come first.
- A deployed apparatus starts full. Its loadout comes from its type.
- Use: only its crew logs what they used. Enter the amount and press Use.
- Restock to full, per item: while the apparatus is in quarters, or parked at any station without a call. Its crew can do it, and so can anyone signed on at a station who is not out on the road.
- Controlled items are marked, like on the depot.
Scripts on your server can use supplies too, for example water from the tank.
When dispatch queues a call on your apparatus
If everyone on a crew is busy, dispatch can still give the apparatus a call. It then waits: the card on the Station page reads Queued for #1042: toned out when its crew is free. As soon as someone on its crew is back in quarters and free, the apparatus is toned out on its own — with the station announcement, if your community uses one.
