Stations & Apparatus
Stations & Apparatus sets up Station Mode for SAFR. With it on, crews sign
on at a station, take out apparatus like ENGINE 3 and MEDIC 3, and dispatch
calls out the apparatus instead of people. What that looks like for them:
Station Mode for SAFR and
Station Mode for dispatch.
Before you start
Set everything up first, and plan about an hour in-game. Station positions, vehicles and speakers are read from the game, so you need to be on your own server with the LUX CAD resource running. Every button marked IN-GAME reads something from where you are standing or sitting.
Your divisions come from Sub-Departments: each SAFR division gets its own column when crews sign on, so set those up the way you want crews to choose. Fire and EMS as two divisions is the usual shape.
The page
The navigation on the left follows the order of work:
| Item | Holds |
|---|---|
| Overview | The Station mode switch and the setup steps |
| Stations | One page per station |
| Apparatus | One page per division, plus Supplies |
| Station alerting | The alerting switch and the speakers per station |
A dot shows whether that part is done. Adding and editing opens a side panel; deleting sits behind the More menu, with a confirmation.
1. Place your stations
- Add a station: a Name and a Number. The number goes into every
callsign there:
ENGINE 3,STATION 3 - 475. - Stand at the station in-game and press USE MY POSITION.
- Set the Radius (m). It should cover the bay and the parking lot; most stations need 40 to 60 m.
The radius is how the game tells that a truck leaves and comes back, and which station it left from. Without a position, crews can still sign on there, but the game can't see their trucks come and go.
The station page shows the layout to scale, north up, with its speakers. To fix a position later, stand in the right spot and press MOVE TO MY POSITION.
2. Add apparatus types per division
Open a division under Apparatus and add its types, like ENGINE, LADDER or MEDIC:
| Field | For |
|---|---|
| Code | Becomes the callsign: MEDIC 3, then MEDIC 3-1 for a second one |
| Label | The name crews read, e.g. Ladder |
| Icon | Optional. Empty uses the division's icon |
| Sort order | The order in lists |
EMT-trained by default
Each division page has an EMT-trained by default switch. It tells dispatch which apparatus can be sent to medical calls.
Turn it on for your EMS division, and for any other division whose apparatus all take medical calls. Every division starts with it off.
| Switch | What crews and dispatch get |
|---|---|
| On | Every apparatus of that division can take medical calls. No box on the Station page, no label on the board: for a medic that goes without saying |
| Off | A crew can tick EMT-trained on its own apparatus on the Station page, for example an engine whose crew is happy to run medical calls. Dispatch then sees a pale red EMT label on that apparatus |
If you leave it off for EMS, your medic crews see the EMT-trained box too, and dispatch can't tell a medic from an engine that isn't EMT-trained. The label is information only: dispatch can still send any apparatus anywhere.
3. Add the vehicles behind each type
A type is what crews deploy; a vehicle is the actual model they drive. Every type needs at least one, or it can't be deployed.
- Sit in the vehicle in-game.
- Press READ THE VEHICLE I'M IN. The model name, model hash, display name and seats come from the game.
- Check the Name and the Seats. The game counts the driver, and custom models often have more seats than a crew; seats is the most people aboard.
The model is how the game recognises the truck when a crew drives it out of the station. A vehicle that isn't listed here is ignored, so a crew's own car never counts. A model under more than one type is allowed: crews are then asked which apparatus they took out.
4. Optional: station alerting
Station alerting plays an announcement on speakers at your stations: a two-tone, then a spoken line with the units and the call. Dispatch starts it with Announce after assigning, and it plays on its own when a queued call is toned out. It is a separate switch under Station alerting, off by default.
Add speakers on each station's page with ADD SPEAKER:
- Stand where the speaker hangs, for example under the bay doors.
- READ MY POSITION: position, height and whether you are inside.
- Give it a Name and a Range (m). Outside on a wall: about 2 m above you, range around 240 m. Inside: range 30 to 40 m.
- TEST FROM HERE plays the tone there. Only you hear it.
Each speaker can be tested, renamed, moved to your in-game position, or deleted. Everyone in range hears an announcement in-game, with direction and distance, whether or not they use the CAD. A server on an older resource plays nothing; the dashboard tells you when to update.
Supplies
Under Apparatus → Supplies you set what each apparatus carries. In Station Mode this replaces the community depot for SAFR.
| Card | Holds |
|---|---|
| Items | Everything your community can carry: name, code, category, counted in Pieces or An amount, and the unit |
| Loadout per type | How much of each item a full apparatus of that type carries. Empty means it doesn't carry it |
| Import from the depot | Copies your depot list onto one type, as a start |
Two checkboxes per item:
- Controlled: every use is kept in a register, like morphine.
- Scripts may refill it on the road, like water at a hydrant.
An item's code never changes. Scripts on your game server use it to read and
use supplies, so pick it with care: lowercase letters, digits and _.
A deployed apparatus starts full. Crews log what they use and restock in quarters.
Statuses
Turning Station Mode on adds two SAFR statuses the automation runs on:
Returning to station and Transporting to hospital, by default 10-19
and 10-76.
You can change their code, colour and label under
Unit Statuses; their behaviour is fixed.
Copying to your other community
Built it on your development community? Copy Configuration takes it across: tick Stations & Apparatus. That brings the stations, their speakers, the apparatus types and vehicles, supplies and loadouts, and the EMT-trained defaults.
- Your divisions must exist on the other side, with the same code. A type whose division is missing is skipped, and the preview says so. Tick Sub-departments as well if you are not sure.
- The on/off switches are not copied. Station Mode and alerting stay as they are on the community you copy to, so turning it on stays a deliberate step.
- Nothing that is happening right now is copied: crews, deployed apparatus, queued calls and supply levels stay with their own community.
Turning it on
When the steps are done, the Station mode switch on Overview turns it on. Do it between sessions: SAFR crews get the station sign-on the moment it is on.
Before you switch, check one thing the Overview doesn't: EMT-trained by default is on for your EMS division (see step 2).
To turn it off, everyone has to be off duty at the stations first. Your setup is kept.
