Getting Started

In-Game Commands

Everything LUX-CAD adds to the game is reachable by typing a command in the chat box. Most of the ones you reach for repeatedly can also be put on a key, so you never have to open chat mid-scene.

This page is the full list. Commands only work on a server that runs the LUX-CAD resources, and some of them additionally require you to be signed on as a unit — that is noted per command.

Putting a command on a key

  1. Open the game's pause menu and go to Settings → Key Bindings.
  2. Pick the FiveM category.
  3. Find the entry by the name in the Keybind column below and assign a key.

Every LUX-CAD entry is unbound out of the box, with one exception: radio push-to-talk comes pre-set to the backslash key \. Your server owner can change that starting default, and you can always rebind it here for yourself.

Commands with a dash in the Keybind column cannot be put on a key. Nearly all of them take extra words after the command (/luxstatus available, /call 555-0134) and a key press cannot carry those words along. The exceptions are /panic and /panic off, which are the typed spellings of something that already has a key of its own.

Every action has at most one entry, so you never have to work out which of two similar-looking rows to bind.

The CAD tablet

CommandWhat it doesKeybind
/luxcadOpens and closes the CAD tablet.Open CAD tablet
/lux-refreshReloads the tablet from scratch. Use this if the CAD opens but hangs — a normal close and reopen will not fix that, because it reuses the page that is already loaded.Force-refresh CAD tablet

Both need your Discord identity. If you get a message that it is not loaded yet, wait a few seconds and try again.

Radio

The radio has its own panel, and every command here works with that panel closed. See Radio for what the panel itself does.

CommandWhat it doesKeybind
(push-to-talk)Hold to transmit.CAD radio push-to-talk — default \
/luxradioOpens and closes the radio panel. /luxradio close always closes it.Open/close CAD radio panel
/lux-radio-volupTurns the radio volume up in steps of 5%.CAD radio volume up
/lux-radio-voldownTurns it down in steps of 5%.CAD radio volume down
/lux-radio-chanupSteps to the next channel you have access to.CAD radio next channel
/lux-radio-chandownSteps to the previous one.CAD radio previous channel
/dmconfigMove and resize the direct-message pop-up. Close the radio panel and the tablet first — those hold the mouse themselves.Configure DM notification size/position (/dmconfig)
/lux-radio diagnosePrints microphone and connection details for support.—

Emergency and non-emergency calls

CommandWhat it doesKeybind
/911Starts an emergency call. You first pick which of your characters you are calling as, or call anonymously.Start a 911 call (/911)
/311Starts a non-emergency call. Same character pick as 911.Start a 311 call (/311)
/hangupHangs up the call you are on.Hang up the active 911/311 call
/call <number>Calls a phone number. /call hangup ends it.—

A bound /911 or /311 key only opens the character picker, and ESC closes that again without placing anything — so a mistaken press costs you nothing.

What happens next depends on whether a dispatcher is on duty: with one, the call opens as voice; without one, you fill in the report yourself. Note that in that second case nothing reaches the CAD until you submit the form. The whole flow is in Reporting an Incident.

On patrol

These need you to be signed on as a unit.

CommandWhat it doesKeybind
/panic-toggleSets off your 10-99 panic alarm, and switches it off again on the next press.Panic alarm on/off (10-99)
/panicSets off your panic alarm. Typed only — the key above already does this.—
/panic offCancels your own alarm. cancel and clear do the same.—
/tsStarts a traffic stop on one of the three nearest vehicles.Start traffic stop (/ts)
/cg <title>Opens a call at your own location with the title you type.—
/luxstatus <status>Changes your status: available, unavailable, busy, en-route or on-scene.—
/cleargpsClears a GPS route that is stuck on your map.Clear GPS route (/cleargps)
/bodycamTurns your bodycam on or off. /bodycam on and /bodycam off set it outright.Toggle bodycam (/bodycam)

There is one panic key, and it does both directions. Panic alarm on/off sets your 10-99 off, and the next press switches it off again.

  • Switching off always works straight away. There is no waiting period on cancelling your own alarm.
  • Switching it back on waits five seconds. That stops a few quick presses from filing a string of separate panic calls. Press inside those five seconds and the game tells you how long is left — your alarm is not affected.

The key reads the alarm from the CAD itself rather than remembering what you last pressed, so it stays right even when the alarm was set off or cancelled somewhere else — in the CAD, or from a Stream Deck.

More on what happens when an alarm goes out: Panic Alarms. Traffic stops are covered in Traffic Stops.

Documents and ID

CommandWhat it doesKeybind
/showidShows one of your documents to someone standing near you.Show ID / documents (/showid)
/lastidReopens a document that was shown to you earlier this session.Reopen a recently shown ID / document (/lastid)
/idconfigSets the size and position of a document on your screen.Configure ID card size/position (/idconfig)

/lastid only remembers documents from the session you are in — it is empty again after you rejoin. See Documents and ID Checks for the officer's side, and Documents and Wallet for your own.

Personal

CommandWhat it doesKeybind
/luxemotesTurns the automatic animations on or off — holding your radio, phone to your ear, and so on. Your choice is remembered.Toggle LUX-CAD auto-emotes

If something is not working

CommandWhat it does
/lux-refreshThe first thing to try when the tablet loads but does not respond.
/lux-radio diagnosePrints microphone permission, connection state and timings to the F8 console. Send a screenshot of that to your server owner.
/lux-phone diagnoseReports what the phone integration sees. The detail goes to the server console, so your server owner reads this one.

Aliases

A few commands answer to a second name as well. The tables above use the main name throughout; each alternative below does exactly the same thing when you type it.

Only the main name has an entry in the key list, so there is never more than one row per action to bind — and a bound key does the same job whichever name you would have typed.
