Inquiries

Sometimes the police ask the public about something that happened. Those questions land here, and you can answer anonymously — the officer sees Respondent A, never your name, your character or your account.

Finding them

Inquiries in the sidebar. When something is waiting there is a red dot on it.

A question also shows up as a line on your dashboard, and in the game chat when an officer opens it. The dashboard line takes you straight to that question.

What a card tells you

Above the question sit the incident title, the postal and the street — enough to know whether you were anywhere near it:

info

ARMED ROBBERY · POSTAL 402 · VINEWOOD BLVD

Did anyone see a red sedan leaving the bank?

Tap the card to answer. It opens, and the reply box appears underneath.

Answering

Write what you saw and send. From then on:

  • The officer sees your answer under a label like Respondent A. Nothing identifies you.
  • Other people cannot see what you wrote. Several people can answer the same question and none of you sees the others.
  • The officer can reply to you specifically, and that reply is private too. You get a red dot and a notification when it arrives.

The label is only meaningful on this one incident. On another call you are a different letter, on purpose — so nobody can follow you from case to case.

Answering in character

Answer as the character who was there. This is your character telling the police something, not you telling the officer — they read it as a person on the street who saw something.

Whether your character may lie, guess or hold back is your community's rule, not a CAD setting. A witness who shades the truth is ordinary roleplay; using the board to troll is not, and staff deal with that the way they deal with any other report. If your community has not said anything about it yet, ask before you find out the hard way.

Answering does not put your character on the record. What you wrote is kept with the incident under your respondent letter, never under your name, and nothing lands on a report, a citation or your record. An officer who wants a real statement has to come and find your character in the world.

The timer

An open question shows how long is left, like Open · 22 min to answer. That is the window for joining, and the card repeats it in words when you open it.

Once you have answered, the timer no longer applies to you. The card then says You are in this thread and you stay in it, whatever the clock says.

Not your business?

Not me on the dashboard line hides it. The question stays on this page in case you change your mind, and hiding it is remembered on this device only.

When questions disappear

A question goes away when the officer closes it, or when the incident itself is closed. That is the normal end of it — there is nothing to tidy up yourself, and nothing is kept on your side afterwards.

Answering is voluntary

Nobody can see whether you read a question or ignored it. There is no record of you having looked, and no consequence for staying out of it. If a question is not about you, leave it.
